Welcome to MyShadez. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website at myshadez.com (the "Site") and the services we provide through it, including the Shade Collective community, our surveys, and — once launched — the Foundation Finder (together, the "Services"). The Site is operated by MyShadez ("MyShadez", "we", "us", "our"), based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. You can contact us at contact@myshadez.com.
By using the Site, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site. We recommend saving a copy of these Terms for your records.
1. What MyShadez is
MyShadez is a community-driven beauty platform. Members share their real foundation and shade experiences, and that collective data powers shade guidance and recommendations for women of colour across every skin depth and undertone. Use of the Site and its community features is currently free. We do not currently sell products through the Site; if that changes, separate terms of sale will apply and will be published before any purchase can be made.
2. Who may use the Site
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to submit information to the Site or sign up for communications. By using the Services, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Your submissions
When you share information through our forms — such as your shade, skin profile and experiences — you agree that:
- the information is truthful and about you, given in good faith;
- you grant MyShadez a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, analyse and aggregate the beauty-profile information you submit for the purpose of operating and improving the Services, including powering recommendations and community insights (your name and email are handled as described in our Privacy Policy and are never published);
- you will not submit anything unlawful, misleading, offensive, or that infringes anyone else's rights;
- we may moderate, decline or remove submissions at our discretion to protect the quality and integrity of the community data.
Founding-member numbers are issued in order of joining, reflect genuine community membership, and have no monetary value.
4. Beauty guidance, not professional advice
Shade guidance and recommendations on the Site are drawn from community-reported experience and general shade-matching principles. They are provided for information only. They are not medical, dermatological or professional advice, and individual results will vary — skin is personal. Always check the ingredients of any product and patch-test before full use, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies. Your use of any product is at your own discretion, and any concerns about your skin should be raised with a qualified professional.
5. Third-party brands and products
The Site may reference third-party foundation brands, products and shade names because our community reports using them. All such trademarks and product names belong to their respective owners. MyShadez is independent: we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any brand mentioned, our recommendations are not paid placements, and a mention is not a guarantee of a product's suitability, availability or price. Prices shown are indicative and may differ from retailers' current prices.
6. Intellectual property
The Site and everything on it — including the MyShadez name, logo, design, text, graphics, illustrations, animations and code — belong to MyShadez or our licensors and are protected by UAE and international intellectual-property laws. You may browse the Site and share links to it, but you may not copy, reproduce, scrape, republish or commercially exploit the Site's content or the community's data without our prior written consent.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site. In particular, you must not:
- submit false, automated or bulk entries, or impersonate another person;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site, its data or its infrastructure;
- introduce malware or interfere with the Site's operation;
- scrape, harvest or extract data from the Site, whether manually or by automated means;
- use the Site in any way that breaches applicable UAE law or the law of the country you access it from.
8. Availability and changes
MyShadez is a growing platform. We may add, change, suspend or withdraw features (including launch timings of the Foundation Finder) at any time without notice. We aim to keep the Site available and accurate but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and content may occasionally be out of date. We may update these Terms from time to time; the version on this page, with its "last updated" date, is the one in force, and your continued use of the Site after changes means you accept them.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law: the Site and Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind; we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site; and we are not responsible for your experience with any third-party product, including any reaction to a cosmetic product referenced on the Site. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UAE law, or your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer in your country of residence.
10. Privacy
Your personal data matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights — it forms part of these Terms.
11. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found by a competent authority to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be severed and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
12. Governing law
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Site, are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai shall have exclusive jurisdiction — without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections you enjoy under the laws of your country of residence.
